Jean de Brunhoff was born in 1899 in Paris, France. he attended the Ecole Alsacienne and studied painting with Othon Friesz. He was a painter, author and illustrator of books for children. He created the "Babar" books, which were about a civilized elephant. He died in 1937, but his son Laurent continued the series, beginning in 1945 when he began to paint seriously. Laurent de Brunhoff was born in 1925 in Paris, France. Like his father he was a painter, author and illustrator of children's books...
